EasyCGI review: is it worth your money

Before we go in to EasyCGI review, let's take a look at what are the key features in easyCGI vps hsoting,

Data centers located in Boston MA

30 Day money back  guarantee

One IP address included in the hosting plan

Linux debian OS

Plesk control panel

RAID

Starting price, $49.95 monthly billing or $39.95/month yearly billing for 20GB disk space, 256MB RAM and  500GB per month data transfer.

So fat EasyCGI hosting does not offer windows vps

Pros

Since easyCGI runs on linux debian, the OS / Operation system, the system is solid, although one may argue that since debian is operated by vonlunteers, the Debian OS don't usually contain the latest softwares, however, this should not be a concern for vpshosting.

The RAID storage feature is another good thing to see in easycgi hosting, basically raid has the best data backup functionality, though one thing to keep in mind, no matter what system the vps hosting companies are using or how reliable the vps providers are, it is always good to back up your own data.

Many hosting companies, especially vps providers would charge an additional fee for adding a control panel such as plesk and cPanel, easyCGI has included plesk in their vps hosting plans.

Control panel and software tutorial is definitely a good thing to have.

Cons

Even though, debian is a solid operation system, it is good to have more choices, such as centOS, ubuntu, for more experienced users.

I have come accross a few other vps hosting companies that include 2 dedicated ips, where as easyCGI only offers one.

Since I constantly in search of vps hosting companies, I am not too excited about their customer support, I will tell you why in a sec, but first I will show the conversation I had with there sales staff via live Chat.

"P: Hi Dawei. My name is P (don't want to show the real name here), how are you today?
Dawei: Hi . 2 questions, first , I was trying to register for an account on linux vps x. and saw the free domain with qualified plans, what does that mean qualified
P: Could you please provide me the exact URL of the page from where you have entered the Live Chat?
Dawei: easycgi.com
Dawei: sorry, this is the one https://secure.easycgi.com/register/registration.bml?flowid=8&masters=694
P: Okay.
P: You can find the VPS base hosting package by going through the URL at:
P: http://www.easycgi.com/easycgi/vps/linux-vps-compare.bml
Dawei: so if I sign up for linx vps x. will I get a free domain,
P: Yes, Dawei "

Here are the reasons

1. I only needed to wait for 3 seconds before the chat started, so what am I complaining about ? wait, here it comes, Once I finished typing in the questions, it took them about 30 seconds to come back to me, and instead of answering my question, they first had to ask where I entered the live chat, and I know one thing for certain, if I didn't answer that question, they will never answer mine. so here's a question comes into my head, "if the customers are more important, why didn't they answer the customers questions first ?"

2, As you can see the questions were pretty straight forward, and yet I was sent back to the page I was previously viewing, if I wasn't how would I know it was linux vps X?

Conclusion.

The vps hosting package seems to be good enough for small business site, and it is risk free since they offer a 30 day money back gurantee. More importly if you want to keep you data safest possible, ask them if they have SSH, this applies to any vps hosting. Ok , so that was my easyCGI reivews, but  don't take my word, do more investigation befoere you decide on buying any vps hosting services, because one person's review does not really mean anything.

Important: if you buy any hosting services via the links provided on my site, You will get a nice bonus (check it out here),
